As the new year settles in, we want to take the time to reflect on our best moments of 2021. Despite the times, we were able to go beyond our goals and meet the moment. We are now setting new goals and looking forward to bringing opportunities to job seekers. Our cycle of good continues and your contributions will allow us to carry on as the largest workforce development nonprofit in the Southeast.

  1. Continuing to Receive Immense Support From Shoppers

This year, we experienced one of our best days of revenue in Goodwill history. A strong retail business allows us to provide in-demand job training programs and other employment services to support our north Georgia neighbors. In the 2021 fiscal year, we put 16,199 people to work, with 57% of them earning sustainable living wages. We’d like to thank our donors, as it’s been a great year for donations, as well as our shoppers for continuing to support Goodwill of North Georgia and our mission.

2. New Beginnings in Morrow and Metropolitan Parkway

In 2021, Goodwill Of North Georgia opened a new store and donation center in the city of Morrow. We provided the community with new job opportunities and a place to bring their donations that will be put towards our cycle of giving. We also held a Listening Session with the community in preparation for our next store and career center that will be opening on Metropolitan Parkway in 2022.

3. New Birth Donation Drive

On the Saturday before Easter, we collaborated with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church again to host our second donation drive. Their members collected items for two weeks for a grand total of 34,000lbs of donations. This translated into 700 hours of job training. In the process, we’ve developed a concrete and ongoing partnership with the church.

4. Two Successful Live Selling Events

We held our first Live Selling Event this year, which was so successful we did it twice! Our second, which had a holiday shopping theme, happened this past November. Through both events, we totaled 213 live attendees and sold 123 items. Keep an eye out for our next Live Selling Event, which takes place on our Facebook page.

5. New Chief Financial Officer

Tim O’Connell became Goodwill’s new Chief Financial Officer this year. As a former member of our Board of Directors, Tim has been with the Goodwill family for quite some time and has previous experience overseeing the financial departments of several organizations. This is what made him a great fit for us. We’re excited to keep him in the Goodwill family.

We look forward to your support this year! You can shop for Goodwill items at any of our north Georgia locations or through our ecommerce sites on, Amazon and eBay. We accept gently used items for donation all year round as well as monetary donations.
