We are proud to be a part of the DeKalb Tenant Landlord Assistance Coalition. This product of the CARES Act will serve to support those facing eviction as it directly relates to challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We know one of the largest issues facing many people during this pandemic is un- or underemployment and this is how Goodwill can help. If you are unfamiliar, the mission of Goodwill of North Georgia is to put people to work. And we haven’t strayed from that mission in our 96-year history.
Currently, we operate 2 free-to-the-public career centers in DeKalb County (Decatur and South DeKalb) offering classes for computer literacy and interviewing skills as well as training and certification programs for in-demand careers. The pandemic also emphasized the importance of our virtual career services platform CareerConnector.org that allows us to serve jobseekers 24/7 no matter where they are.
In fact, in the last year we served 3,831 jobseekers. We do this through partnerships with state and local governments, and more than 5,000 employer partners and educational institutions.
We hope to provide job search and training resources to those being assisted through the DeKalb Tenant Landlord Assistance Coalition as well as any other resident in our 45-county territory who may be looking for a job, a better job or a career.
