The most popular resolution every year usually involves exercise or getting in shape. Usually, January brings packed gyms, overflowing Zumba classes, and a run on exercise equipment at big box stores. This year, like most things in the last 10 months, will look different.

Gyms are limiting the number of people working out at a single time and classes may have been reduced. We have been getting outside to exercise but now its winter and the weather is unpredictable. So, home gym it is!

Think about a space you can carve out in our home to create a permanent or even a temporary workout area. If you’re starting with doing simple, yet effective, body-weight exercises like pushups, crunches, squats and planks, you only need a space as large as you are. Yoga and Pilates may require a bit more space but not much. Just make sure you can move freely without worry of hitting walls, furniture or any family heirlooms!

If you are looking for equipment to supplement your workout, Goodwill can be a great option! Head to the back of the store and check out what exercise values you can find. Be on the lookout for:

There are a number of online options for low-cost workout programs. Even consider checking out social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok for certified personal trainers who are now making programs to follow available free of charge.
