Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce

Like Goodwill of North Georgia, the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) has a long history of serving the community. The synergies created by the strong partnership between these organizations has yielded many benefits for the area’s workforce development landscape.

Amy Lancaster-King has served as MAC’s Director of Workforce Development for 12 years, and during that time, she has witnessed the growth of this relationship, which became stronger with the creation of the Metro Atlanta Exchange (MAX) in 2014. “The more I learn about Goodwill, the more opportunities I see for us to deepen our relationship,” Amy says. “There’s a lot of magic on the Goodwill team. Whenever a request is made, the answer is always, ‘Yes, we can.’”

Workforce development is an important issue for MAC’s investors and the COVID-19 pandemic brought Metro Atlanta’s needs into sharp focus. Working with Goodwill, Amy is able to add value for her members. She shared a recent conversation with an employer who was facing training issues. Knowing Goodwill’s expertise with training, she felt confident making a referral. She says she is grateful to Goodwill and sees the organization as key to helping MAC’s member businesses.

MAC’s recent Opportunity ATL Career and Resource fair drew 40 employers and more than 1200 job seekers. “Goodwill’s partnership on this fair enabled us to produce an event far superior to what we could have done on our own,” Amy enthuses. To Goodwill’s benefit, working on this fair allowed for the development of other strategic relationships that have already enhanced the agency’s virtual career service offerings.

Jenny Taylor, Goodwill’s Vice President for Career Services shares, “Our approach at Goodwill of North Georgia is the same as the oft-quoted proverb, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ It is not often easier to partner, but it is better. It becomes easy when you have high-quality partners like Amy and MAC. We have so much alignment in our goals, our approach, our values, and our priorities related to creating a more diverse and inclusive economy in our Metro Atlanta communities — with, by, and for our neighbors.”

With appreciation for keeping our mission top-of-mind and always seeking to bring us to the table, Goodwill is pleased to present the Metro Atlanta Chamber with this year’s Mission Ambassador award.
