Luetisha Logan Working at Goodwill’s Smyrna StoreMeet Luetisha Logan

When Luetishia Logan graduated from high school she did not think twice about joining the military. Her parents could not afford to send her to college, and the service was Logan’s ticket to a productive, stable future. She enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Savannah, Georgia. Just when she thought all was well, life threw a curveball at her.

“My dad was in a bad accident, and I needed to go home to care for him,” she says. “I had to leave the base to help him recover.” Logan put her concerns for her future on the back burner and poured all her energy into her father’s recovery. As his health improved, she knew she had to come up with a new plan for herself.

She turned to the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), where she was referred to Goodwill of North Georgia’s First Choice: Veterans program. The program is tailored for young veterans looking for work. A great fit for the program qualifications, Logan enrolled and received on-the-job training with work evaluation to identify her workplace strengths. She worked at Goodwill’s Smyrna store, primarily on the sales floor.

Her strong work ethic and close attention to detail were quickly noticed by the store manager. “I was told the store manager said he had to have me on the team,” she says. “After I finished my training, I was hired full-time as a store associate.”

Still utilizing some of her military skills, such as organization and teamwork, Logan continues to be a stand out employee at the store. With the stability of a job back in her life she is confident in her future once more.
