After being laid off from a job in Chemistry due to the pandemic, Ponchellis used this as a sign that it was time for him to pursue a new career immediately. He began researching careers that were not impacted by the pandemic and technology sparked his interest. He learned that he would need courses that would help him to transition into this new career field and eventually this research led him to Goodwill. In February 2022, Jackson joined Goodwill’s Technology Career Program.

Ièsha Norwood, Career Services Navigator, shared that working with Ponchellis was a pleasure. “He knew from day one what his end goal was, and he made sure he utilized all the resources available to achieve that goal. He was hardworking, positive, determined, and thorough all while maintaining a healthy work, family, and school balance amid the pandemic,” she said.

During the program, Ponchellis diligently worked to receive certifications in Comp TIA, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure 900 and participated in internships. The internships allowed him to actively practice and hone his new skill sets.

Upon graduating the program in June 2022, Ponchellis received an employment offer through the TechBridge and Microsoft partnership as a Microsoft 365 Specialist. Ponchellis has expressed much gratitude for Goodwill of North Georgia and is thrilled about his new career journey.
