After serving 22 years in the Army as a staff sergeant, Kroner Grant was out of work but still looking to chase his dreams. Upon returning to civilian life, Kroner spent some time working at UPS as a HUB Supervisor but due to physical health issues his performance began to suffer.

Feeling frustrated and stuck, Kroner decided to visit the Goodwill’s Career Center in Smyrna to see what kinds of services they offered. He was happy to learn that Goodwill offered all kinds of support to help people find work, no matter their background or experience level.

Kroner was elated to hear about all the resources he was able to access using the career center. Working with Career Coach Glossie Echols, Kroner received assistance with his rĂ©sumĂ©, job search, and interview preparation. “Kroner showed amazing dedication to finding his next role and was a pleasure to work with,” said Glossie.

After improving his rĂ©sumĂ©, Kroner was excited to learn about the career center’s internal job board which he immediately took advantage of. With Glossie’s support, Kroner applied to several roles that interested him. His improved rĂ©sumĂ© paid off, as he secured 8 interviews! Glossie also helped Kroner prepare for the interview process, ultimately leading to multiple job offers. With his choice of positions, Kroner was able to be selective and chose a role that most aligned with his goals.

Today, Kroner Works at Delta Material Services as a shipper. Kroner likes his job and appreciates the work-life balance he’s found. Kroner enjoys the fun-filled environment among his co-workers and management team and plans to complete his second retirement at the company. Even better, Kroner is in the process of looking to buy a house as a result of his stable employment.

Looking back, Glossie is proud of the work Kroner put in, saying “I’m not at all surprised by his success!”
