Atlanta Housing and Goodwill of North Georgia Deepen Partnership to Expand Workforce Services for Residents

Atlanta Housing and Goodwill of North Georgia today announced the next phase of their partnership to connect Atlanta Housing residents to Goodwill’s career services, and job placement programs. The collaboration provides greater opportunities for Atlanta Housing program participants to access Goodwill’s workforce resources and programming as a core pathway to employment and long-term stability.
The first public-facing activation of this next phase will be Goodwill of North Georgia’s New Year, New Job Career Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at Roosevelt Hall, 660 Atlanta Student Movement Blvd. SW, Atlanta, GA 30314.
The event will connect jobseekers with employers across multiple industries and provide access to career services that help candidates prepare for interviews, strengthen resumes and explore pathways to long-term economic stability.
“Starting the year with access to opportunity can be life-changing,” said Keith Parker, president and CEO of Goodwill of North Georgia. “By partnering with the Atlanta Housing and its Resident Advisory Council, we’re meeting people where they are and connecting them to real jobs, real employers, and real support systems that can lead to lasting economic stability.”
“This expanded collaboration with Goodwill of North Georgia is about connecting our residents to real pathways that support stability and mobility,” said Terri M. Lee, President and CEO of Atlanta Housing. “Goodwill brings proven career services and training options, and Atlanta Housing brings reach and relationship with the communities we serve. The career fair is the first way the community will see that work in action.”
Participating employers will recruit for positions across sectors including logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and skilled trades. Attendees will also have access to Goodwill’s career services team, which provides resume assistance, interview coaching, skills training referrals, and job placement support at no cost. Jobseekers may also learn more about skill-building and training opportunities supported by the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. Goodwill of North Georgia’s Mobile Career Center will be on site to support jobseekers with career readiness services.
“This career fair reflects the power of partnership and community-driven solutions,” said Jenny Taylor, vice president of career services at Goodwill of North Georgia. “Many of the families we’re serving have strong ties to this community, and our goal is to help them translate their resilience into meaningful employment and long-term career growth.”
Atlanta Housing and Goodwill began working together in 2022 through workforce development efforts connected to the agency’s Resident Advisory Council (RAC), which represents approximately 200 families, many of whom are former residents of Bowen Homes, now living in the English Avenue and Vine City communities. This next phase strengthens direct resident engagement with Goodwill’s career services and programming. Additional touchpoints and opportunities for residents will be announced as plans are finalized.
“This is what it looks like when we move from referrals to real access,” said Pamela Owunta, Senior Vice President of Resident Empowerment at Atlanta Housing. “Our residents deserve career support that is practical, immediate and connected to long-term growth. This career fair is the first step, and we intend to build from it.”
Jobseekers attending the Jan. 21 career fair are encouraged to bring copies of their resume, dress professionally, and be prepared to interview on site.
The Jan. 21 event is part of Goodwill of North Georgia’s broader New Year, New Job initiative that includes more than 15 career fairs throughout North Georgia, responding to rising demand for workforce development services. From FY23 to FY25, the organization served more than 53,700 individuals, reflecting double-digit growth in participation, while job placements increased to 24,595 in FY25, an 11.4% increase in just one year. These gains underscore both employer demand for skilled talent and the importance of accessible, community-based career support.
