Jennifer Hart came to Goodwill seeking a better future for herself and her children. As a single mother receiving SNAP benefits, she enrolled in Goodwill’s Forklift Certification Training Program at the Pleasant Hill Career Center to gain the skills needed for stable employment.

Throughout the program, Jennifer demonstrated exceptional dedication, maintaining perfect attendance and a high level of professionalism. Her eagerness to learn was clear in her proactive approach; she frequently asked questions about best practices, common challenges, and how to safely navigate different warehouse environments. Thanks to her commitment, Jennifer gained not only the technical knowledge needed to operate a forklift safely and effectively, but also a deeper understanding of warehouse operations and employer expectations.

After earning her forklift certification, Jennifer actively pursued employment and secured a position as a Warehouse Associate with Goodwill’s E-Commerce Department, starting at $16.50 an hour. One of her biggest challenges was finding a job that accommodated her childcare responsibilities. The E-Commerce role offered the ideal schedule and location, allowing her to balance work and family while building her career.

Today, Jennifer is thriving in her role, expanding her warehouse skills, and preparing to operate a forklift on the job. Her success highlights the power of determination, quality training, and supportive employment services in helping individuals overcome barriers and achieve long-term stability.
