DECATUR, Ga. – Goodwill of North Georgia announces the selection of Rob King as the new chief financial officer, effective Oct. 28, 2019. He replaces outgoing CFO Paul Jordan, who announced his retirement earlier this year. The agency also appoints Joy Holmes as vice president of development, a new role for the organization.   

King has extensive experience in long-term strategic planning, new business development and information management strategy. King previously served as the chief financial officer of the American Cancer Society, Inc. and the American Cancer Society Action Networks, a sister organization of the American Cancer Society. Prior to his chief financial officer role, King served as senior vice president of Enterprise Planning and Business Integration, leading the change of the organization’s legacy division structure to a market-based regional structure.

King received his Bachelor of Science in accountancy from the University of Illinois and Master of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Holmes has more than 15 years of experience in fundraising, volunteer management, strategic planning and staff management for nonprofits. Prior to joining Goodwill, Holmes served as a senior advisor for the American Heart Association. In this role, Holmes collaborated with local fundraising directors on strategies and opportunities to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects to support field events and initiatives. In addition, Holmes also served as the vice president of the Heart Walk and the director of the Go Red for Women movement and Heart Ball campaign during her tenure at the American Heart Association.

Holmes also brings extensive experience in creating and executing individual strategies for donors and prospects to foster growth of donor relationships.

Holmes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and English from Georgia Southern University.

Goodwill of North Georgia also announces the appointment of three board members, bringing a new depth of knowledge to its board of directors.  

Solange Claudio, chief operating officer of Moxie, joins the board with more than 18 years of experience in multiple facets of marketing, including online media and CRM and social, mobile and technology solutions. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University, Master of Business Administration from New York University Stern School of Business and is a graduate of Harvard University’s General Management Program.

Ed Ferguson, managing director and branch manager of the Athens branch of Raymond James, also joins the board. Ferguson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia.

Dan Miller, former vice president and general manager with Enterprise Holdings, comes from a robust background in sales, marketing and growing all business lines. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the State University of New York.
