In a recent interview with Rose Scott of WABE Atlanta, President and CEO Keith Parker shared the news of the nonprofit’s partnership with Lyft and discussed the importance of access to reliable and affordable transportation.

Goodwill of North Georgia is a proud participant in Lyft’s Jobs Access Program, along with Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ and Philadelphia. The program is a new initiative that aims to close short-term transportation gaps related to employment access and job training.

Through Lyft, job seekers will be able to utilize the transportation service for:

  • Rides to/from job training programs
  • Rides to/from job interviews
  • Rides to/from the first three weeks of employment, until individuals receive their first paycheck and begin to pay for their own transportation

Goodwill of North Georgia has a total of 1,340 trips (OR 670 round trips) to distribute to people now through December 31, 2019. Each trip is valued at $15 one way. The trips are to be used exclusively for attendance in our job training programs, to and from interviews, and for the first week(s) on the job once hired until their first paycheck comes through.

Donate to Lyft next time you ride, add a dollar to fund a trip for someone who does not have transportation. Round up at the register next time you shop at Goodwill and let us know you’d like to help provide the vital transportation someone needs to get themselves on their feet and on the road to get to work.
