The Cobb County Board of Commissioners has officially proclaimed September 23, 2025, as Goodwill of North Georgia Day, honoring the organization’s century-long commitment to fostering hope, opportunity, and community strength through its mission to put people to work.

For 100 years, Goodwill of North Georgia has been a driving force in workforce development and sustainability, helping Georgians achieve economic independence through employment and training. The organization’s impact reaches deep into communities across the region, including Cobb County, where it proudly operates nine retail stores and one career center, continuing a tradition of service that spans generations.

Across North Georgia, Goodwill’s footprint is vast and impactful — with 70 retail stores, 14 career centers, and 40 donation centers employing more than 3,600 team members. Each year, the organization serves millions of donors and shoppers, while diverting more than 40 million pounds of material from landfills, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to both people and the planet.

Through its Smyrna Career Center, Goodwill has helped more than 20,000 Cobb County residents secure meaningful employment, fueling economic growth and workforce resilience. The center offers programs designed to support entrepreneurs, high school students, veterans, and individuals with disabilities—ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to pathways for success in high-demand industries.

“Goodwill of North Georgia is more than just a name—it’s a promise of opportunity,” said Keith T. Parker, President and CEO of Goodwill of North Georgia. “For 100 years, we’ve worked hand-in-hand with our communities to help people gain the skills and confidence they need to build better lives. We’re honored to celebrate this milestone with Cobb County, one of our most engaged and supportive partners.”

The proclamation, presented by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, recognizes Goodwill’s ongoing dedication to enhancing lives, fostering prosperity, and driving community progress throughout the state.

As Goodwill of North Georgia marks its centennial year, the organization remains steadfast in its mission—continuing to put people to work and shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for all Georgians.
