Fulton County Honors Goodwill of North Georgia for 100 Years of Service

Goodwill® Announces New 2025 and 2026 Board Members
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Goodwill of North Georgia will be honored with a proclamation from the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, August 6, recognizing the organization’s century-long commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities through employment and economic development.
Founded in 1925 by a group of civic-minded Atlantans, Goodwill of North Georgia began as a modest operation on Edgewood Avenue—just a small house and a horse-drawn wagon. Over the last century, the organization has demonstrated remarkable growth, resilience, and a deep-rooted commitment to service. Today, Goodwill operates 11 retail locations and two career centers in Fulton County, and has expanded to include 70 stores, 14 career centers, a mobile career center, and over 40 attended donation centers across North Georgia.
“Goodwill’s impact is woven into the fabric of Fulton County,” said Keith Parker, President and CEO of Goodwill of North Georgia. “We’re honored to be recognized by the Board of Commissioners and proud to celebrate a century of helping people in our community gain meaningful employment and build better lives.”
Over the past 13 years, the organization has made a significant impact on the community through its career development model, “A Job, A Better Job, A Career.” By helping over 27,000 residents of Fulton County secure employment in high-demand fields such as forklift operations, welding, supply chain management, and highway construction, it has become a cornerstone of workforce development.
The two career centers, located on Old National Highway and Metropolitan Parkway, continue to play a crucial role in Fulton County’s economic development, providing tailored training and placement services that cater to a variety of groups, including high school students, veterans, entrepreneurs, and individuals with disabilities. Through these initiatives, Goodwill stands as a powerful advocate for opportunity and equity, continually driving positive change across Fulton County.
As Goodwill of North Georgia looks to the future, the organization is committed to serving an additional 155,000 job seekers by 2030, expanding its retail footprint, and deepening its sustainability efforts to continue making a positive and lasting impact on Georgia’s economy and environment.
