Employer Story: Advance Auto Parts
Advance Auto Parts
Community employers, like Advance Auto Parts, are a key component in Goodwill of North Georgia’s mission to put people to work. Whether the employers agree to provide facilities for on-site training or hire Goodwill program graduates, they are indispensable workforce resources.
Byron Chastain, district manager for Advance Auto Parts, embodies all facets of a strong employer relationship with Goodwill. “We like to put people on board that we can inspire at Advance Auto,” he says. “If there are people out there that are willing to be inspired – which is similar to the model that Goodwill has – it just matches up with us to hire some of the people who go through their programs.” Chastain works closely with his local Goodwill career centers to find quality candidates for his company.
The combination is win-win. Advance Auto Parts finds eager job candidates willing to learn and grow with the company, and Goodwill is able to place local job seekers and further fulfill its mission.
“Once we built the relationship I started seeing that our companies are really alike,” Chastain says. “Since the first job fair we attended we’ve been able to bring on some very talented people.”
