Employer Story: AETC
AETC
Airport Employment and Training Center (AETC) opened its doors in 2005. Senior Human Resources and Operations Manager Tammy Gomez started working there from day one. By now, she knows the drill. AETC accepts applicants, conducts interviews, facilitates recruitment and helps train employees for its client, the airport.
One constant throughout Gomez’s tenure with the company is an emphasis on safety. Safety is a top priority for the airport, and because it is such a priority, she and her colleagues really stress proper training of their new hires. It can sometimes be time consuming to properly train incoming employees on all the regulations and procedues for the airport. But Gomez knows when she gets an applicant from Goodwill of North Georgia she can breathe a little easier.
“One of the most fascinating things about Goodwill is their ability to come out and kind of put their feet in your shoes,” she says. “For Goodwill to actually take that upon themselves and learn what is needed for a person to become hired, it actually helps me out tremendously.”
Reviews from other applicants are positive, too. Tammy says Goodwill applicants are extremely loyal to their job coaches even after they find work. From employer to partner to applicant, the partnership success truly benefits everyone involved.
