Seeking stability for himself and his family, he turned to Goodwill of North Georgia’s Cornelia Career Center. Brent attended an information session and learned about the certified welding program. With SNAP Employment & Training financial aid, Brent enrolled, committed to mastering a new trade and building a stronger future.

From the start, Brent stood out. His instructor praised his dedication and displayed his training projects. One powerful piece was a statue of a man climbing a ladder, symbolizing Brent’s own journey. He also crafted a birdhouse and a metal box engraved with his wife’s and children’s initials, showing his growing skill and devotion to family.

Brent’s hard work paid off. He completed training, passed his welding test, and secured full-time employment as a Welder with nVent Tracthe at $25.50 an hour. For the first time in years, he has steady work he enjoys and can provide stability for his family.
