Meet Dominique Macklin

Dominique Macklin, a Kennesaw resident and single mom, worked as an associate at a temporary staffing agency while also studying logistics at Chattahoochee Tech.
On the path to getting her associate degree at Chattahoochee Tech, Dominique was looking to enroll in Kennesaw State’s Supply Chain Management program until she found out it was canceled.
Frustrated and upset, Dominique sought to better provide for herself and her daughter. A friend from work mentioned that Goodwill of North Georgia offered a Supply Chain Logistics Program. Dominique visited the Goodwill Smyrna Career Center to see what programs were offered.

Dominique was excited to hear about the services and programs that Goodwill had to offer and the free training she could get through the Goodwill Industries International Ignite Young Adult Reentry Partnership (YARP) grant. Although she hesitated to enroll in the program due to the time commitment, she knew she needed training to get a better job. She decided to enroll.

“During Dominique’s time in the Supply Chain Management program, Dominique was eager to learn and remained dedicated,” said Employment Specialist Cheryl Lockhart. “She worked hard and stayed on course; we’re really proud of her!”

Although faced with many familial and financial challenges throughout the training program, Dominique persevered due to the support and encouragement of her Goodwill team. Dominique was proud to finish what she started, and she graduated from the Supply Chain Management Program in November of 2022.

Domonique has found stable employment at Samuel, Sons, and Co as a shipping specialist through a Goodwill Job Fair!

Dominique enjoys her job and plans to stay in the field. She plans to continue to improve her skills by reenrolling in Chattahoochee Tech and eventually Georgia Southern to obtain her degree in Supply Chain Management.
