Like many retirees, Gloria Heard didn’t stay retired for long. With experience using the Athens Career Center from time to time, Gloria knew just where to go to find her next opportunity.

Upon her arrival at the center in Spring 2021, Gloria met Lead Career Coach Michael Whitfield, who updated her job seeker file and learned more about her current search. Michael suggested that she plan to attend an upcoming job fair where Fairfield Inn and Suites would be recruiting. Although the hotel was not yet open, they were eager to find energetic people for their team, and Michael thought this would be a great fit for Gloria.

“Goodwill’s help has enabled us to find excellent team members like Gloria,” the hotel’s General Manager Erica Confer shared. Gloria has been with Fairfield Inn and Suites for almost a year and a half, and says she’s delighted that her role allows her to interact with the public. She takes great pride in keeping the hotel welcoming to guests, making sure that the entrance lobby and public lounge areas are clean and orderly. Gloria has distinguished herself by stepping in to assist wherever she is needed, which has made her especially valuable to her managers. While she plans to stay with the hotel for the foreseeable future, she knows she can count on Goodwill to assist her with any future employment needs.
