Meet Tari Roberts

When Tari Roberts began her work evaluation and job-readiness training with Goodwill of North Georgia, she brought a quiet determination and a desire to grow. Tari had previously met with her Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) counselor to discuss ways she can gain new skills and polish her current skills to be competitive for successful employment. From the very first day, she arrived on time, engaged fully in her assignments, and demonstrated a strong willingness to learn. What unfolded during her training was a powerful example of resilience and adaptability.
Ms. Roberts lives with cerebral palsy and has limited use of her left hand, but she never let this hinder her performance. During intake and evaluation, including digital literacy and hands-on store tasks, she adjusted her approach with confidence. Observers admired her problem-solving and determination. Her focus on busy environments became a standout strength.
Ms. Roberts also demonstrated professionalism by accepting feedback and adjusting her behavior when expectations were clarified. Her positive attitude and willingness to learn made her a valued team member.
Her strong work ethic did not go unnoticed. Store leadership recognized her reliability and dedication, which opened the door to discussions about long‑term employment. After completing her job search plan and interviewing with the Goodwill Smyrna Store manager, Ms. Roberts was officially offered, and proudly accepted, a full‑time position as a Grader, starting at $13.50 per hour.
“I’m so thankful for what the career center team did for me. Thank you for helping me find a job I know I am great at,” said Tari, expressing deep gratitude to the staff who supported her.
Ms. Roberts’ success shows what happens when perseverance meets opportunity. With evaluation, supportive coaching, and accommodations, she built the skills and confidence for meaningful work. Her journey proves the power of self-belief and a workplace that values ability over limitation.
