When Tristan English learned about Goodwill of North Georgia launching a Clean Tech training program for Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Technicians, he immediately took advantage of this opportunity. Tristan had just graduated from high school and was eager to join the workforce in a new, exciting, progressive occupation.

Accenture and Goodwill Industries International funded the EVSE training course as a three-month pilot program, which meant that Tristan could start his journey toward a new career without having to worry about paying for the training.

Tristan was selected for the second of three cohorts in the pilot and proved to be an excellent candidate for the EVSE program. Despite having little work experience before his enrollment, Tristan was determined to absorb as much information as possible. He closely observed his peers and the training staff so that he could present himself in the most professional way possible. Goodwill Skills Trainer Gwen Marshall assisted Tristan throughout his training journey. She mentioned that he was enthusiastic from the first class and committed to being a diligent learner. “Tristan was an exemplary student. He worked hard, never gave up, and even assisted his classmates to get through training.”

After successfully graduating from the four-week EVSE technician program, Tristan was offered an opportunity to be an electrical apprentice at the Allison Smith Company with a starting pay of $16 an hour. With this additional training, he is on track for a great career in a growing industry. “I enjoyed the program and everything it taught me at this stage in life. It’s a blessing to have been a part of the program, and I’m beyond grateful for everything,” said Tristan.
